US President Trump calls for DOJ to investigate Bill Clinton’s relationship to Epstein

US President Donald Trump asked the Department of Justice (DOJ) to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s relationship with former US President Bill Clinton in a Truth Social post on Friday.

Trump’s Truth Social post stated:

Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures, I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him. This is another Russia, Russia, Russia Scam, with all arrows pointing to the Democrats. Records show that these men, and many others, spent large portions of their life with Epstein, and on his ‘Island.’ Stay tuned!!!

News outlets reported that Bill Clinton has denied “any knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and has denied ever visiting Epstein’s private island.” 

In an earlier Truth Social post on Friday, Trump stated:

Epstein was a Democrat, and he is the Democrat’s problem, not the Republican’s problem! Ask Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, and Larry Summers about Epstein, they know all about him, don’t waste your time with Trump. I have a Country to run!

On Wednesday, Democrats of the House Oversight Committee released emails that implied that Trump knew of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. The documents that were released alleged that political figures maintained relationships with Epstein after his 2008 conviction. 

The Department of Justice has not responded to Trump’s call for an investigation.

Great Britain's first income tax introduced

On January 9, 1799, British Prime Minister William Pitt introduced Great Britain's first income tax. The tax was announced the previous December as a means of raising money for war against Napoleon. Pitt's successor, Henry Addington, repealed the tax when hostilities subsided in 1802. Addington then reinstated the tax during the following year when fighting was renewed.
