Armed suspect faces charges after threatening to kill US Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh

The Federal Bureau of Investigation Wednesday arrested a man who threatened to kill a US Supreme Court Justice near Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home in Maryland.

Nicholas John Roske called emergency authorities and indicated “he had a firearm in his suitcase.” While on the phone, Roske admitted “he came from California to kill a specific United States Supreme Court Justice.” After police arrived at Justice Kavanaugh’s home, Roske was taken into custody without incident.

Police searched a suitcase and backpack Roske carried and they found a variety of weapons and other items, which included a knife, Glock pistol, zip ties and a crowbar.

After a detective advised Roske of his constitutional rights, Roske informed the detective he was upset because of the recently leaked US Supreme Court abortion case draft, as well as the recent Uvalde, Texas elementary school shooting. Roske also informed the detective that he intended to kill Justice Kavanaugh because he thought Justice Kavanuagh “would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws.”

Roske found Justice Kavanaugh’s address online and purchased the Glock pistol and other items with the intent to break into the Kavanaugh’s home, kill him, and then kill himself.

Roske is charged under 18 USC 115(a)(1)(A), which is:

Attempt[ing] to kidnap or murder, or threatens to assault, kidnap or murder a United States Judge, to wit: a current Justice of the United States Supreme Court
