Ukraine dispatch: ‘A town which is around 35 miles from Kyiv has been totally destroyed’

Law students and young lawyers in Ukraine are filing for JURIST on the latest developments in that country as it defends itself against Russian invasion. Here, Kyiv-based lawyer Oleh Kornat reports.

Ukrainian army is engaged in hard battles near Kyiv against Russian invaders. A town which is around 35 miles from Kyiv has been totally destroyed.

The enemies go on proving there are neither legal no moral rules for them. An 80 year man has been killed by Russian soldiers since he refused to give them food.

A family of 6 people who were in the car have been shot by Russians.

A baby who was born 40 days ago died as the boy had pneumonia caused by hiding in metro from bombs.

Russian troops invaded the city of Kherson two days ago. They launched Russian TV to impact the local people with its propaganda. Also, Russians have furnished food, water and medicines in a lorry which they located in the city centre. The idea was to take photos and videos how the Russian army of saviors rescues Ukrainians. A very popular tactic used by Russian authorities during all their history. However, local people have not accepted such gifts. Moreover, they have organized a rally in the city centre with Ukrainian flags, nevertheless the enemies have been shooting in the air to make them be afraid.

There was a fire at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant which is 6 time more powerful than Chornobyl. The fire had been caused by Russian shooting. I wonder what they are thinking about when they do this. Ukrainian government has drawn the attention of the International Atomic Energy Agency to this menace of catastrophe.

Due to all of the above facts Ukrainian authorities are asking international partners to close the sky over Ukraine which will at least protect us against rockets and bombs.
