Afghanistan dispatches: ‘there is no AUAF anymore’
Law students and lawyers in Afghanistan are filing reports with JURIST on the situation there after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban on Sunday. Here, a law graduate of AUAF, the American University in Afghanistan, describes current circumstances at the University as Taliban control extends into its seventh day. For privacy and security reasons we are withholding his name. The text has been only lightly edited to respect the author’s voice.
I am glad I can share some info and raise our voices.

– AUAF is closed and we (the alumni) and the current students have no information at all.
– Our university email accounts no longer have the AUAF Logo. I believe it is for security reasons. Unfortunately, this can also mean there is no AUAF anymore (but this is just an assumption).
– I am in contact with some of the current and alumni and everyone is looking to find possible ways to leave the country.
– I am waiting to get concrete evidence regarding the destruction of AUAF servers and will update you accordingly.
– The international and local staff are currently at Kabul Airport, some inside and some still outside wandering the streets. This means, AUAF is passing its last days.
– We have a few whatsapp and facebook groups with most of the Law students. Everyone is looking to find educational possibilities to transfer credits and continue their education outside. Those who have graduated are looking for a safe country to go to. Since we studied at the AUAF, everyone is  interested in immigrating to the US and continuing education and life there.

So far, this is what I can share.
