Trump campaign sues Pennsylvania over election results

The campaign for President Donald Trump sued Pennsylvania in the US District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania on Monday alleging with no evidence that the presidential election results were unfair.

News media called the election in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden on Saturday after determining that the number of outstanding votes to be counted in the state could not make up for Biden’s lead over Trump. The current suit alleges:

The evidence is plain that Defendants have been and are blatantly violating the protections and procedures, including those enacted by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, vitally necessary to ensure that the votes of the citizens of Pennsylvania are not illegally diluted by invalid ballots and that the election is free and fair.

However, beyond making such allegations, the complaint does not present any evidence that the vote counting was mismanaged.

Trump has filed other suits against the state, contesting the absentee ballot drop off locations in July and the level of access that election observers had to the vote-counting process. The suit regarding absentee drop-off locations was dismissed, and the attempt to gain greater access was allowed with some social-distancing requirements to ensure the safety of the vote-counters in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Based on the current uncertified count of votes, Biden is ahead of Trump in Pennsylvania by more than 45,000. Counties must certify their vote results by November 23.
