Iran to execute spy who led US to Soleimani

Iranian Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaili announced Tuesday that Iran will soon execute the citizen informant who allegedly gave the US and Israeli forces information on General Qassem Soleimani, possibly leading to the airstrike in January that killed the General.

Esmaili stated: “Mahmoud Mousavi-Majd, one of the spies for [the Central Intelligence Agency] and Mossad, has been sentenced to death. He gave the whereabouts of martyr Soleimani to [Iran’s] enemies.” The spokesman also mentioned that Majd was found guilty of receiving money from both the US and Israeli governments.

Earlier this year, Amir Rahimpour, another Iranian national, was sentenced to death for providing the US with Iranian intelligence. The country also claimed to have arrested seventeen Iranian nationals for spying for the US back in 2019. Esmaili did not mention whether Majd was one of the seventeen arrested by authorities last year.
