Rapper Jay-Z sues Mississippi head of corrections over inmate deaths

Rapper Jay-Z filed a lawsuit Tuesday in Mississippi on behalf of inmates in the state penitentiary.

The lawsuit comes in response to inmates’ deaths, which have been happening at an alarming rate. Five inmates have died in the past two weeks and the prison administrators have done nothing to prevent it.

Alex Spiro, Jay-Z’s lawyer, said: “We cannot treat people this way and it’s time to do something about it.” He draws a direct link between the inmates’ treatment and their deaths in the filling and he hopes to find relief for the families of the Mississippi men who have died because of the poor treatment.
