Federal judge approves release of documents from Giuliani associate to House committees

A judge for the US District Court for the Southern District of New York on Friday approved the release of records from the prosecution of an associate of Rudy Giuliani to the US House of Representatives Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Lev Parnas, an associate of Giuliani, is being prosecuted for campaign finance violations stemming from the ongoing inquiry into President Donald Trump’s request that Ukraine investigate Hunter Biden’s relationship with Burisma. In October three House committees issued subpoenas to Parnas requesting documents pertaining to the then ongoing Trump impeachment investigation.

Parnas has already submitted some of the documents. The judge granted a Modification to the Protective Order Governing Discovery that will allow Parnas to hand over even more documents pertaining to the Ukraine investigation. The prosecution did not contest the modification, which potentially includes information received from Parnas’ iPhone.
