JURIST student commentary competition winners announced

JURIST is pleased to announce the winners of our first ever student commentary competition. The contest invited current law students to submit an article analyzing a current legal news event. JURIST received articles from students around the world. The winners are as follows:

First Place: Anne Bloomberg from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law

Second Place: David A. Murray from Penn State Law

Third Place: Hannah Seulgee Jung from the UCLA School of Law

WWI gas attack on Canadians led to first chemical weapons ban

On April 24, 1915, the German army used chlorine gas against Canadian troops at Ypres. Gas was later employed by British and French forces against the Germans. On April 24, 1800, U.S. President John Adams approved $5,000 to fund the establishment of the U.S. Library of Congress.
