Planned Parenthood withdraws from Title X

The acting president of Planned Parenthood on Monday announced Planned Parenthood’s withdrawal from Title X, stating that the organization is continuing to fight President Donald Trump’s gag rule rule in court.

Title X funded clinics generally serve low-income men and women, offering contraception and a wide variety of related reproductive health services. Under the Trump administration’s rule, facilities receiving Title X funding will no longer be able to offer abortion counseling, and they will be further barred from providing abortion referrals.

“We are continuing to fight this rule in court, and will do everything we can to make sure our patients don’t lose care.”

She further stated that she believed that the Trump administration has imposed the rule as an attempt to undermine Planned Parenthood for future generations to come. She also spoke about the purpose of Title X and how Planned Parenthood has operated since its creation.

For nearly half a century, Title X has ensured that those struggling to make ends meet or who don’t have health insurance can access services like birth control, cancer screenings, and STD testing and treatment in their communities. Planned Parenthood health centers have been a part of the program since its inception … We are its largest provider.

She encouraged citizens to contact their representatives and pushed for the House and the Senate to pass spending bills to block the Trump administration’s gag rule.
