Bump stock ban opponents seeking Supreme Court stay

Gun rights advocates on Wednesday gave notice that they will seek a stay from the Supreme Court after US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit upheld lower court ruling on Monday that denied their request to lift the Trump administration’s bump stocks ban.

Last week, the Supreme Court denied an application for stay in a separate Michigan District Court case, Gun Owners of America v. Barr, challenging the bump stocks ban.

The Trump administration initiated the bump stocks ban in the wake of the Las Vegas mass shooting happened in October, 2017. Bump stocks devices were used in the shooting at a country music festival, resulting in 58 dead and hundreds wounded.
