New Hampshire House approves marijuana legalization bill

The New Hampshire House of Representatives on Wednesdayapproved a bill to legalize marijuana.

The bill seeks to allow law enforcement to “focus on violent and property crimes.” It also seeks to generate “revenue for education and other public purposes,” and additionally cites individual freedom as an interest that the New Hampshire House of Representatives is seeking to protect.

The bill proposes that cannabis be regulated similarly to the way that alcohol is regulated. If the bill is passed into law, there will be rules governing cannabis cultivation facilities. The facilities will have to go through “registration, regulation, and taxation” and comply with requirements in order to operate, including restrictions on the hours in which cannabis can be sold.
