Supreme Court takes up Virginia gerrymandering case

The US Supreme Court added two cases to its docket Tuesday, including a Virginia gerrymandering case.

Virginia House of Delegates v. Bethune-Hill is racial gerrymandering case in which 12 state legislative districts in Virginia are being challenged. The court wants briefs on whether the parties have standing to bring this appeal. The lower court ruled in June that the districts were illegally gerrymandered.

PDR Network, LLC v. Carlton & Harris Chiropractic Inc. is a case that decides whether the Hobbs Act forces district courts to accept the legal interpretation of the Federal Communications Commission with regards to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
