Sessions announces measures to fight organized crime

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday announced new measures set to fight transnational organized crime.

These steps include the forming of a Transnational Organized Crime Task Force, which, along with other government agencies, will be tasked with identifying certain groups that pose a threat to the US. Sessions identified five criminal groups as top threats: MS-13, Cartel de Jalisco Nueva Generacion, Sinaloa Cartel, Clan del Golfo, and Lesbanese Hezbollah.

This response from the attorney general follows Executive Order 13773 issued last year by President Donald Trump, which directed the federal government to invest resources to dismantle transnational criminal organizations.
