[JURIST] Italian prosecutors have reportedly added an 11-page handwritten note to their compilation of evidence in the case of the alleged 2003 CIA kidnapping [JURIST news archive; WP timeline] of Egyptian cleric Moustafa Hassan Nasr [Wikipedia profile] in Italy. In the note, Nasr, also known as Abu Omar, claims he was abused by his captors who allegedly issued threats of violence, electric shocks, and physical abuse. Italian judges have yet to authorize a trial in the case.

Prosecutors announced last month that they had completed their investigation [JURIST report] into the incident and are once again pressing for the extradition of 26 Americans [JURIST report] believed to be involved in the alleged extraordinary rendition [JURIST news archive]. Nasr was reportedly seized by CIA agents with the help of Italy’s Military Intelligence and Security Service (SISMI) [official website] on the streets of Milan in 2003 before being taken to an American airbase and on to Egypt.
