Rosen et al., United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, August 9, 2006 [upholding the constitutionality of the 1917 Espionage Act and refusing to dismiss charges against two former lobbyists with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee indicted under the Act for allegedly conspiring to receive and disclose classified US defense information over a five-year period dating back to 1999]. Chemical Weapons Convention goes into force

On April 29, 1997, the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on their Destruction went into force. The Convention prohibits member nations from creating and deploying chemical weapons and is overseen by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.
