Former Nepalese PM taking corruption control commission to high court

[JURIST] Former Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba [Wikipedia profile] and former Interior Minister Prakashman Singh said Monday they would bring the Royal Commission for Corruption Control before the Nepalese Supreme Court [official website] for pursuing an investigation of the two former government officials for political reasons. Dueba and Singh have been detained for the past month on charges of corruption [JURIST report] involving the Melamchi Drinking Water Project. Both have continually claimed that the charges brought againt them by the Commission, which was created by King Gyanendra [official profile] following his 1 February dissolution of the elected Nepalese government [JURIST report], were entirely political in nature.
